Why do I do what I do? 🤯

Hello! My name is Tatiana, and I'm a designer with a knack for all things mental health! I'm so excited to share a little about myself today.

They say business isn’t personal, but in my case, it is (in the best way
possible!). A bit about me—I started my business because I wanted to bring awareness that mental health matters and is important. Since my background is on design, I wanted to create tools and materials that could be easy to use and much more like eye-candy (not boring, flat designs). I also wanted to make these accessible to many.

Why did I choose to create mental health related products? That's because I've always believed that mental health and emotional learning should be accesible and fun! I created this space to share my love for design and all things related to mental health and wellbeing, as well as education. I focus on designs that are meaningful, that bring awareness to whoever uses/sees them.

Now—Let's get more personal; while growing up, my parents where a pretty much absent. They had emmigrated to a country where they had to work from having $0 to giving the life they always wanted to have to their children. As such, they worked so hard that I barely saw them. With no parental guidance to navigate through life, and being the eldest of 4 kids who also needed guidance, I took on the role of a "paternal" figure since a younger age. This made me "grow up" faster than some kids, but, also left me with many emotional scars that I would have to (and still am) heal.

Mind you—I love my parents and their intent to put us before themselves, to always provide, never go hungry, and even provide us with luxuries that they never had when young. It wasn't until I was older that I really started to reflect and notice that I was lacking all of the emotional support and education that others had.

With Light&Salt. my goal is to make everyone feel supported, loved, and I do this by providing accesible and attractive resources for therapists, teachers, social workers, and pretty much anyone who wants to improve and learn about mental and physical wellbeing! Many of the tools I provide are tools that I have benefited from and hope that they are as helpful to others as they have been to me!

Thanks for reading!
xoxo
