How aware of your emotions are you? This might sound as a simple question, however most of us can agree that many times describing our emotions is not as easy as we'd like.
What is Emotional Awareness?
Emotional awareness or emotional processing is about learning to understand, make sense of and deal with emotions in healthy productive ways in situations where these may cause anxiety and stress. Learning to process emotions takes time.
When you efficiently learn how to process emotions in a healthy way and move past otherwise traumatic/stressful events it means that you’ve developed good coping skills. Individuals that are not able to self-regulate and have developed bad coping skills will tend to have negative behaviors. Emotional processing allows individuals to deal and release unwanted feelings that may otherwise interfere with their daily lives.
